Chapter one
Before it became Legend, it was already remembered.
Long abandoned since 1961, the building had become one of Roushdy’s most recognisable yet misunderstood addresses. For decades, it stood still while the city continued around it, a quiet structure carrying rumours, memories, and a reputation larger than its physical footprint.
Over time, local folklore turned the site into a place of suspicion and myth, with many people convinced there were ghosts “afareet” inside. Heritage did not treat that history as something to hide. It understood that the building’s strange place in the public imagination was part of its weight, and that any true renewal had to confront the story directly rather than erase it.
The transformation of Heritage Legend was therefore more than a construction exercise. It was a deliberate act of reclamation: taking what had been feared, neglected, and misunderstood, and returning it to Alexandria as a dignified residential landmark with structure, clarity, and purpose.
This was never just a redevelopment. It was the debunking of a myth through architecture.

2017 illumination
Lit for the first time in 56 years.
Even before its full rebirth, the building briefly re-entered the city’s visual memory. The 2017 lighting moment became an eerie but important bridge between abandonment and reclamation proof that the address still carried presence long before it was finally renewed.

Chapter two
The project did not erase the past. It rebuilt its future.
Heritage Legend transformed the original five-story structure into an eleven-story residential landmark while maintaining the existing site footprint. The work involved full structural reinforcement, modernization to current engineering and safety standards, and a complete rethinking of how the building would perform, feel, and be perceived in the city.
Better daylight, stronger living standards, improved systems, and a renewed sense of permanence turned a dormant structure into a credible residential address again.
Structural Reclamation
The original building was reinforced, re-engineered, and extended to support an entirely renewed residential future.
Modern Standards
Core building systems, safety requirements, circulation, and living performance were modernised to meet contemporary residential expectations.
Urban Reintroduction
What had long stood still returned with confidence: a stronger silhouette, a sharper material language, and a renewed place in Alexandria’s streetscape.

Chapter three
A new silhouette rises from a familiar address.
The completed exterior carries none of the uncertainty that once defined the site. Instead, it presents Heritage Legend as a composed urban statement more vertical, more confident, and unmistakably renewed. Dark stone, full-height glazing, planted terraces, and bold balcony interventions give the building a presence that feels both deliberate and memorable.
Dark stone cladding and full-height glazing give the building a more deliberate architectural presence.
Bold balcony elements introduce contrast, identity, and a distinctly contemporary rhythm.
The completed form reads as a landmark again — not through nostalgia, but through clarity and confidence.

Chapter four
Arrival is treated as ceremony.
The rebirth of the building is felt immediately at the threshold. Rather than treating entry as a functional transition, Heritage gave it gravity: a carefully framed portal, crafted timber doors, restored classical references, planted edges, and a sense of quiet formality that makes arrival feel deliberate.
The message is clear before you step inside: this address has been reclaimed with conviction.

Chapter five
Inside, memory becomes atmosphere.
The interior experience avoids anonymous luxury. Instead, it layers warm timber, stone, carved details, framed references, and ceremonial movement into an arrival sequence that feels both intimate and memorable. The design does not simply announce that the building is new, it reveals that the building remembers.

Ceremonial arrival sequence with crafted steps, layered lighting, and a boutique residential feel.
Warm timber, stone, carved details, and archival references transform memory into atmosphere.
The interior experience feels authored — not generic — carrying the project’s narrative beyond the facade.

Chapter six
The building’s earlier life is carried inward, not left behind.
Heritage Legend does not pretend its past never happened. Archival references, historic imagery, and narrative details are woven directly into the interior experience, turning memory into part of the architecture itself. This is what gives the project authenticity: the story is not merely told about the building, it is embedded within it.
The myth was never allowed to define the site forever. Heritage replaced rumor with evidence, atmosphere, and a built future.

Chapter seven
Beneath the story is a fully resolved residential project.
Heritage Legend succeeds because it combines narrative weight with real residential performance. It is not only remembered because of what it once was, but valued for what it now offers: clearer circulation, updated systems, stronger living standards, and a renewed sense of permanence for long-term occupancy.
Living experience
Optimised apartment layouts with better natural light and improved ventilation.
Modernised MEP systems, safety infrastructure, elevators, and core building services.

Closing note
Heritage Legend stands as a model of architectural reclamation.
It is a project where memory was not hidden, myth was not indulged, and renewal was not superficial. Heritage took a building abandoned for decades and returned it to Alexandria with clarity, dignity, and enduring residential value. That is what makes Legend more than a completed project, it makes it a statement of intent.
